Washington Mutual Informative - Year end statement required for filing taxes.
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I paid off a second mortage with Washington Mutual in November 2002. I did not receive
any closing statement from my local branch in Orlando, Fl at the time of origination or closing ( on state road 436 across from Altamonte Mall ) and was told that would come from their Seattle office once they verified the loan had been paid.
When I tried to file my taxes on March 10, 2003 and realized I did not have the closing statement, I contacted Washington Mutual locally. The local VP, althought he speaks english apparently does not understand it, told me he would request the document and have it sent to me. After waiting ten (10) days, I received a "customer account activity statement" showing my payment schedule and the fact the loan had been paid. Nothing showing any loan cost or fees that might be deductable.
It is now March 31st, I am on the phone with Washington Mutal in Seattle for the fifth (5th) time. I have received 3 copies of the same "customer account activity statement" ( apparently the local VP isn't the only employee who doesn't understand english ) and have yet to get any thing from Washington Mutal that details any fees or charges for the 2nd mortgage.
Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this bank...certainly not with the Altamonte Springs branch in Orlando Flordia.
