Caprice Travel Agency Complaint - Use Caprice Travel in Yonkers At Your Own Risk!

Review by Anonymous on 2003-03-31
YONKERS, NEW YORK -- My complaint concerns a reservation I made on with Caprice travel agency.

After I made the reservation I was promised an itinerary from the agent but two weeks later had not received it. When I called to confirm the reservation and get the itinerary, I was told that the reservation was never made, the agent had no memory of it, and I would need to make the reservation again, which I did. I was told that the cost would be the same, but it was over 200 dollars more than the ticket I ordered. I had no choice but to use the more expensive ticket.

When I received my credit card statement I discovered that not only had the reservation been made the first time, but I was being charged for the ticket plus the 30 dollar fee from the travel agency. I was told that the agent made the reservation under the wrong spelling, and I had to pay for both tickets, over 1000 dollars.

These people were rude, greedy. They admitted their mistake, but were unwilling to make restitution for it. They put me off for six months before telling me I was out of luck and they would not give me back my money--finally I did get the small agency fee back because they said it was their mistake. But they would not refund the ticket worth several hundred dollars.

Use them at your own Risk.
Company Response on 11/11/2008:
We email clients their itinerary for approval
before ticketing. Then get their approval
before ticketing.

It seems that "Anonymous" has confused their story with another travel agency. I have been using Caprice Travel Agency for years and I have had nothing but the BEST OF SERVICE! Maybe this person didn't give the agent the correct information or they didn't hear their agent explain to them clearly enough. Caprice Travel has nothing but the utmost concern for their clients, including me, and have the best knowledge and skills recommended by SEVERAL people I have referred them too, and are still today, their clients. That's why people, such as this individual, does not know what they are talking about. They obviously were looking to take advantage of the agent by giving them false information, have the agent do all the leg work for free. Travel agents cannot control the prices of the airline tickets. If the consumer does not give the agent the correct information, why should the agent be accountable for it? In this case, that is what seemed to happen. This individual seemed to know about the fee of $30 (which is standard in any travel agency) before the ticket was even booked. I could understand this individual being upset if the Agency did not try to help this individual, but from this individuals writing techniques and explaination of the situation, the Agency tried to resolve it. That gives me confidence that the Agency cares about their clients. MOST AGENCYS DONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE YOU!

Too bad this person had a bad experience with them, but rest assured there are many people that I know who do and are very satisfied with their service.

As someone who was a travel agent for almost 30 years, I'd be willing to bet anything that we're not getting the entire story here.

Travel agencies DONT print two sets of tix unless the CUSTOMER screwed up.

How in the world could you wait two weeks for an itinerary?

Why weren't you on the phone with them the next day?

I've seen this many time before and as an agent I know exactly what took place and I believe the customer also knows but is too timid to admit to it.

I have a question for the writer of the complaint.

You should have told your CC company about the problem and they would have suspended payment and opened an inquiry.

As I said before, we're obviously not getting the entire story here.

Notice how the above comments are all written by "Anonymous"? That's because they were written by an employee of the Caprice Travel Agency. I have heard from friends who live in the area that Caprice Travel Agency sucks, and many complaints have been filed against them with the Westchester County Department of Consumer Affairs. CAPRICIOUS Travel Agency would be a more appropriate name for this disreputable business!!!
