Ashley Furniture Complaint - What I wish I knew
TYLER, TEXAS -- In early August, I spent over $5000 on furniture. It finally came in mid September. When I bought the 2 twin captain's beds ($500 EACH) I specifically asked the salesperson if the storage was on BOTH sides. (There was no display, only a picture of one side.) She said, "Yes, it is." Sounds pretty simple to me. Well, after I had to instruct the delivery guys on how to set up the bed....(shouldn't they know that?) I asked about the missing pieces... there was storage only for one side I called the store, who said to call the warehouse, who said to call the store. I was told that she must have 'misunderstood my question'. "It's kind of simple. 'Is there storage on both sides of the bed?' is hard to misunderstand." Then she said she would check on getting another unit...after I called several times, she said that the bed was a one piece unit and couldn't have another unit. I was looking at the bed and informed her of her error. She said she'd call back...after I called several more times...she says that they can get storage units for both beds...for $200 each... WHAT? You told me it had storage on both sides.
Anyway, after going around and around with her, my husband getting into a heated discussion with the owner and the salesperson calling me a liar.. he offered a discount on the 2 units. ($50). My husband was outraged and told them to come pick up the whole bedroom suit and return our money. NOT. The owner informed us that we couldn't return it and if we disputed thru our credit card company, that he would say that we got what we ordered and that would be the end of it. Only...we were lied to about what we were ordering. And the scratched and broken desk, and the broken entertainment armoire...I am still waiting for the "tech" to call about those things. Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am sorry so many of us are getting screwed by this company.
