Professional Collision Centers Informative - Repair Work on '92 Plymouth

Review by RBE on 2007-09-18
STAFFORD, VIRGINIA -- This company wanted to charge me $1200 to remove metal stripping from 3 doors and repaint the area underneath. Was told this was major work and they didn't even suggest leaving the stripping on and finding a metal strip for the one door that didn't have any. Was told by another company that this work could be done for $50. Is this a rip-off or what? A whole car can be painted for $250.

I won't be going back to them any time soon I can assure you.

That's why they give estimates. I'm sure the amount of work to be done and the resulting quality will be very different on the $1200 job vs the $50 job.

Although I think $1200 is high, if you get a $250 paint job on a car, you'll be back here complaining of the service. In May I had my convertible painted (which does not include a top, of course) and it cost me $2271. It was done by a reputable collision shop that's been in business for over 25 years. Since I've done business with them before, I'm sure there will be no problems.

Why would anyone in his right mind pay for a $1200 job on a car worth only $825?
