Lowe's Complaint - Price listed on shelf, not the price scanned
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA -- The next time you shop Lowe's, be sure to check the price marked on the product or on the shelf vs. the price that it rings up as at the checkout. Today was the latest example of this when I purchased several heavy duty tie-down and a tow strap. The prices marked on the shelf for the tie-downs was $8.87 each. The price that rang up was $14.87 each. The tow strap was 19.99 according to the sticker on the shelf, it rang up as $25.97. I mentioned this to the clerk and she just shrugged and said "Oh items get put in the wrong place all the time" and stuffed them into my bag. At which point I hauled them back out and told her to verify the price. All she did was rescan the item. I asked for a manager who took the items away to a different register and scanned them only to walk back and drop them in my bag and inform me the price scanned was correct. I told the manager to go check the price on the shelf only to be met with "I am rather busy right now." as the reply. So after asking if he would like me to contact their 800 number to make a complaint he rolled his eyes and followed me over to the isle where I showed him the product and the price marked for it. He looked all around as if trying in vain to find a higher price for me, even though the price sticker on the shelf clearly stated $8.87 for 2" x 10' TaskForce tie-down. Finally he goes back to the register and she has to redo the entire order again but now the cashier could not figure out how to change the price or manually enter a price and the manager was now nowhere to be seen. Needless to say I just walked out the door.
I will be cutting up my Lowe's card, transferring the balance over to a regular credit card and returning the nice shards of plastic to their card member services division with a long letter of why I won't use their company or Lowes anymore.
