SAN ANGELO, TEXAS -- I’ve had RV insurance for about four years on a travel trailer parked on my ranch property in west Texas. Last summer when I went down the sky light was broken and the kitchen had flooded. I replaced the sky light and resealed all the roof seams. There have been no leaks since then. Now the ceiling is starting to separate, the floor is spongy and the tiles are coming up. I called Progressive, they sent a letter immediately calling my attention to some language in the policy about maintenance and leakage. They also sent me a certified letter with the same information. When I talked to the adjusted from the San Angelo office he told me he would come look at it, but he has looked at over 100 trailers recently and has not paid a claim yet. I took the day off work and drove out to meet him. He took a lot of pictures and said that even though I couldn’t find the receipt, he could tell it was a new sky light and that damage from broken skylight is covered. He said he would not make the decision but his supervisor would call me next week.
I got a letter from him post marked the same day (he left my place at 11:30 am and his office is 140 miles away, do the math) with the exact same verbiage as the other two letters, except he denied the claim. These guys had their mind made up not to pay this claim as soon as I called.
This company is a rip off. They have low rates because they don’t pay claims and they brag about it!
