Mahwah Ford Informative - Poor Service

Review by thewaltons on 2007-09-20
MAHWAH, NEW JERSEY -- My 2001 Ford Focus was towed to this dealership with a faulty ignition lock. Mahwah Ford gave me an estimate of $860 which I felt was suspicious. I had checked on the internet and found this to be a rather common problem for which Ford had issued a service bulletin and repair kit. I called another Ford dealer who was familiar with the problem and quoted me $250--less than one third the price quoted by Mahwah Ford. I called Mahwah Ford and talked to a service supervisor who said that they could 'try' to repair it for less--leaving me with the impression that the bill would likely still be very high. I paid to have the towed to the other dealer who quoted $250. The car was repaired correctly and on time. To add insult to my towing expense, Mahwah Ford charged me $40, admitting that they did not touch the car. The $40 was apparently the standard charge when a car is brought in, regardless of whether or not any work is done on it. So, I paid $40 for an estimate that was more than 3 times the going rate and a tow charge to boot. I would not recommend patronizing Mahwah Ford under any circumstance.
