Sahara Hotel, Las Vegas , Nevada Informative - Terrible stay at the Sahara Hotel, Las Vegas

Review by JZ on 2007-09-21
LAS VEGAS, NEBRASKA -- Public restrooms filthy.Room service trays left in halls for 24 hours. Concierge not helpful when asked about directions and local restaurants.

NO security cameras in hallways to protect guests and security guards off duty 50% of the time. Our room was robbed by someone who had a access to the room.
Hotel management apologized but did nothing to assuage our frustrations. They didn't even comp us a meal or a drink. We have received a letter from their insurance company denying all liability.

I won't recommend this dump to anyone.

Old Vegas just isn't on the same level as the newer strip mega-hotels.

JZ: As a Nevadan myself, i find this just a little strange. How were you 'robbed'?. The public restroom was dirty ?. Do you mean the restroom in the casino lobby ? All you have to do is report this to the front desk or security and it will be cleaned immediately! If you are from Vegas (?) ( never heard of Las Vegas, Nebraska ) you would know the massive amount of security measures and cameras inside and outside. For you to say that you were 'robbed' would be substantiated by the hotel/casino security systems. All room locks are monitored. I am having a hard time with this one.

Fed up is right, just because you dont see the cameras doesnt mean there aren't any. You should have called the police as they could have forced the guards to put down their doughnuts and press rewind/play. If anyone robbed you it, was more likely a hotel employee like the maids.
The hotels response to your problem is appalling though.

DigitalCommando: I believe your are right to a point. As far as "putting down their doughnuts", that was not called for. Vegas metro has one of the best law enforcement agencies. And as far as an employee robbing them, IF it did happen, it was probably an ILLEGAL ALIEN that robbed them. Furthermore, i DO NOT think this happened.

I was referring to the hotel security guards having the donuts, not the cops. If the hotel doors use a card swipe system, the last guest in the room would have been voided out of the system and couldn't use their card to burglarize the room. This only leaves hotel staff who's cards would be valid every day. The poster of the article doesn't give much detail and maybe the door was kicked in.

Most hotels/motels will have signs stating they are not responsible for valuables left in the rooms...they usually offer the use of a safe to keep valuables. Although, I've heard those are not always 100% safe...what were you robbed of?

No safe in room, no security cameras in hallways.
