Globe Exterminating Complaint - Poor exterminating service

PORT ORANGE, FLORIDA -- Used Globe Exterminating beginning October 2005. Prepaid them for a years service which was one indoor/outdoor service plus 3 quarterly outdoor services during the year of the agreement. We had the option to pay per quarter, but chose to prepay so as not to have to remember to send a check each quarter. When we renewed in October 2006 for another year, we again prepaid $195 for the years treatments. When they came on the quarter (without our ever having to call them) they left a notice on the door indicating what they had done. The end of May, 2006 we had not gotten any notes on the door, so we contacted them to see when the last time they had been out. They said we had apparently slipped through the cracks and they had not been out at all. They said they would come every other month to try and catch us up before the year was out. They came out on June 26, 2007 for an outside treatment. When we returned on July 14th 2007 from a few weeks vacation we found our kitchen was infested with Pharaoh ants. We have never had any bugs in this house since we built it in 2002. We called about the ant problem on Monday, July 16th 2007 and a service man came out on July 18th and treated with a gel along the suspected pather as well as the bathrooms. He did not treat the outside. The ant activity increase and six days later we were infested not only in the kitchen but the bathrooms as well.

I called for a retreatment and the office personnel said we had not waited long enough. We were expecting guests in two days and felt we had waited more than enough. We began calling other services to get quotes. Another service came out, treated the areas and the OUTSIDE and the ants began decreasing and were totally gone in two days. We wrote a letter to Globe on July 25, 2007 terminating Globe services and requesting a refund for the prepayment for the portion of the treatments we never received. We received one treatment on October 13, 2006 and a second quarterly on June 26, 2007. The treatment in July was not one of the quarterlies since it was a special treatment because we discovered bugs. No treatment was done on the exterior which would be the case in a regular quarterly treatment. We therefore, only received two of our scheduled 4 treatments or 50%. We got no response to our letter and called five weeks later. We got no return call.

We called again on September 25th and did receive a return call stating that we were not entitled to any refund. We have been told that under Florida law, our prepayment for exterminating services (other than Termite Control) is an agreement that we chose to prepay for and not a binding contract and that we are due a refund for any services not yet provided by our prepayment. Globe Exterminating had chosen to refuse our request so their customer service policies follow the same quality as their exterminating services.

POOR....POOR....POOR. Let the consumer beware and steer clear of this Company for exterminating services.
