bill walsh automotive group Complaint - unprofessional behavior of service manager
PERU, ILLINOIS -- on april 2,2003 i took my mits. montero sport in to have a regular oil change. the service tech informed me that i had an oil leak that i was aware of. i told him that i would keep my eye on the problem and check the oil levels frequently as i had been already doing. 5 minutes, less than 1 mile away from the dealership, my suv started blowing smoke from the exhaust. i pulled over immediately and called the service adviser dan at the service center. dan came out and inspected my car to find that there was not coolent in the radiator. he returned 10 minutes later with coolent and temp. diagnosed the problem as a possible head gasket problem. they gave me a quote of more than $1,400 and possibly more if the head was also cracked. they explained that there mitsubishi guy would not be back until 7th in order to fully diagnose the problem. this would also cost $$$ to have this problem looked at. i decided to check with other engine repair centers in my area in order to find the best deal possible because my plan was to repair it, then sell it. i found a transmission, engine repair man in me town and had him tow the suv to his shop. a couple days later i called to find out that the problem was not the heads but that the technician at the dealership had put 51/2-6qts to much oil in the oil well. i called diz the service manager at coronet in peru, il to report the findings. he became very rude and insulting as a defense. his cunning remarks and sarcasm were so shocking that i could hardly beleive what i was hearing. i have never been treated with such disrespect. he left me speechless. my heart was racing. he left me with a feeling of mistrust for this company and a feeling that i will never deal with them ever again. i had hope to purchase another suv within the next week or two but this has definatly made my decicion.
