Avis Complaint - Overcharging by Avis
BUFFALO, NEW YORK -- On June 3,2007 after much searching on the internet we booked & paid in full for a rental car through online agency www.ebookers.com at a cost of Euro 622 . This was for our 23 day travel, commencing July 23 from Buffalo airport, NY & finishing in LA airport,CA August 13. On booking we were advised that the Euro 622 was the TOTAL price. On picking up the car from Avis in Buffalo there was no advice that there would be any extra fees & that was repeated when it was dropped off. 2 days ago I received my credit card statement & Avis have deducted US$1309 from my account. On calling the Customer Support Teams of both companies no-one wants to do anything about it - I have since gone to my credit card company to try & reverse the transaction to Avis & am currently playing the waiting game (although the credit card company staff do not sound optimistic).
As I do not live in the USA I would greatly appreciate any help as to which US government department handles consumer protection.
