Kwik Kar and Lube Complaint - Take your money and sit on it

Review by john doe on 2007-09-27
DALLAS, TEXAS -- If you go to an honest state inspection place, they will take one look at your tires and tell you that you should get them fixed first because your car will not pass inspection.

These guys do it differently. They will run your car thru the whole deal making you wait an hour and tell you it failed because of the tires. They will of course take your money for this and you have no choice here.

You have 15 days to come back for a free reinspection. So when you get those tires replaced in a hurry and go back, guess what ? They have already taken your money ! So, be patient and wait all afternoon. ;-)

Ok. You want to complain to the manager ? He's going to tell you that "DPS" (no less) "requires that you wait in line." Yeah, good luck !

So if you know your tires are bad, why would you take it through inspection? And if you didn't know, why would you wait until the last minute to go back or call and make an appointment?

Q: So if you know your tires are bad, why would you take it through inspection?
Answer: I did not know my tires were bad. In the past when something like this happened, inspectors were helpful by telling me upfront that I should get them fixed because they would be required to take my money and fail me. I have no problems taking my car back to such people.

Q: And if you didn't know, why would you wait until the last minute to go back or call and make an appointment?
Answer: Not sure what you mean by "last minute". You have 15 days from the failure to get the vehicle reinspected for no charge. That is when they resent you coming back and make you wait forever and yell at you for not being "patient" for a few hours.

I am sure that Texas DPS has a public number you can call to see if these people are using the DPS as a club. We do In Arizona. If someone threatens you with DPS action here, you have access to a number that will have DPS look into the matter. This is on a par with those jerk parents who tell kids that if they don't behave, they will have a policeman come and arrest them. I heard a woman threaten to have me arrest her son one day. I walked over and thanked her for undoing in a few seconds the thousands of dollars our departements spend on Officer Friendly programs and School Resource Officers to let the kids know that we are there to help them, not to harass them. I gave the kid one of our stick on foil sheriff's badges. He loved it.
