efutonstore.com Complaint - Buyer Beware - Make sure someone answers the phone before you buy

Review by Anonymous on 2003-04-16
BLUFF CITY, TENNESSEE -- I purchased a futon cover and matching accessories from this store www.efutoncovers.com (also called Quality Design) in mid April. I did not receive the products I ordered within 10 days and sent a follow up email. I was told, via email, that the order was delayed by a week. I also received a receipt in the mail with the words "shipping delayed" handwritten on the form. When I still did not receive the products I ordered within 15 days, then 20, I sent repeated emails and was told the manufacturer was behind with shipping.

I began requesting that my order be canceled by the first week of April and it took about three or four tries by email to confirm the order had been canceled (a salesperson kept emailing me in response to my request to cancel saying that the order would arrive "next week").

I finally received confirmation that my order was canceled on April 9, and when I requested a refund (my credit card had long since been charged) - I was told by the same saleswoman that she did not handle refunds and I'd need to speak with the store owner. Note that all correspondence up to this point was done via email as I had been unable to reach anyone by phone. Multiple attempts at calling the company resulted in a "full" answering machine and the inability to actually speak with someone.

I know what you're thinking - not a good sign. But it gets worse. I'd begun a daily campaign of emails (1 email per day) in an attempt to get my money back and then my emails started bouncing back to me (blocked IP?). When I did manage to get through to the company's answering machine and leave a message, I did not get a call back.

I have ultimately filed a complaint with the BBB of Greater Tennessee and have been working with my bank to dispute the charge ($269). Meanwhile, I never received any merchandise and never once received the courtesy of a phone call. I recommend that you stay away from this company as they either don't have their act together or they are being deliberately dishonest. The three names I have found them listed under are Quality Design, efutoncovers or futon-covers.com.
