Air Canada Complaint - Price
VANCOUVER, CALIFORNIA -- I have been trying to book a flight return from Moncton to Vancouver over Christmas. Because of university it's a tight time line. Imagine my surprise when I could book a flight going from Moncton and changing planes in Montreal and Vancouver to Seattle for almost $400 less than I could book for EXACTLY the same flights from Moncton to Vancouver! For an extra flight I get $400 off. Unfortunately, I do not want to drive to Seattle to pick someone up nor do I want to have to drive down there to drop her off just to have her fly back and sit in YVR waiting for her connecting flight.
When asked to explain I was told that they alloted a certain number of seats for Vancouver and those were long gone - too bad so sad. I was then told I was trying to circumvent the system and that if she simply gets off in Vancouver I would then be charged what ever the going rate was at that time for the flight. Imagine I was accused of wanting things my way for my financial well being. I was also told that the legal department may be brought into it as I would not be honoring my contract. Seems to me if I pay for the ticket I should be able to get off the plane ( I had every intention of telling them so that they could sell the seat to someone on standby!) I was told that my conversation was all being documented (ie Flagged) so I anticipate a problem when we use the ticket. I advised them that should we have any problems I would make sure there was a media circus about it. Apparently this was a threat in comparison to their simply telling there would an upcharge.
I was not treated with respect or compassion. I think that a cost of over $1100 to fly across our country is usury. And when both airlines are charging the same there is not much you can do.
