Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Why You Shouldn't Use Chase
PENNSYLVANIA -- I used to be a customer of Chase VISA. Despite an excellent credit rating, I found Chase charging 29.99% interest. I called them to see why. Bank of America is charging me about 23%, HSBC is at about 23%, and Macy's (my only department store credit card) about 20%. My credit limit on those cards is $10,000, $7,000, and $2,000 respectively. I've never used that much and the accounts are usually paid in full at the end of the month. The Chase limit was $2,000 and also usually cleared at the end of the month. When I called I was given to a supervisor who gave me a quick, "No." when I asked to have my rate reduced. I asked why not. "It can't be done." was the reply. So I said I'd have to close my account (after 10+ years as a customer. I was met with silence. So I paid the balance and closed the account. Chase called and asked if they reduced the interest to about 27% would I stay with them. I told them that it was too late and besides I did not want to do business with a company who did not want my business.
Anyway, the other companies had them beat and I didn't need Chase. Chase doesn't seem to care about their customers. I see no reason to use their bank for any financial service, ever, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
