MBI Solutions Informative - Billing us again even though we already paid them!

Review by Principissa on 2007-10-06
MADISONVILLE, KENTUCKY -- In March my husband went to the Emergency Room at Trover Regional Medical Center from work. He was diagnosed with kidney stones and discharged. He went back again the following night and had more stones in his other kidney and he was once again discharged home.

We received two bills from MBI Solutions, one for $230.00 for his 3/8/07 visit and another for 350.00 for his 3/9/07 visit. We paid the $230.00 on 5/14/07 the day the bill came and the $350.00 on 6/05/07.

We thought all was well until today when we got the same bills again, for the same dates of service. One bill for $230.00 was dated from March of 2147. If my math is right that's well over 140 years from now. We called up and were told that they have no record of payment and that this is in fact a valid debt. We even provided the numbers from the receipts sent to us from MBI which stated the account was paid in full.

The representative said that they have no records of any payments and stated that we owed them $580.00 and if it was not paid in 60 days it would go into collections.

We already paid this and I don't feel that we should have to pay the same two bills again. I don't know what to do. We have the receipts as well as the statements from the bank with the POS transactions. But even with that they say that we still owe them the money.

If anyone could tell us what we need to do we would appreciate it.

It is very simple so do not despair. Take your proof of payment in person to the billing dept. at the hospital and show that you have paid these debts. If the bills are coming from another address or a clearing house that just collects bills for the hospital then they may be able to help you clear this up. Always notate the acct# on the front of your check when dealing with any debt like this.Do not fret because if you do this and it still goes further you will have your proof if it goes to collection.Deal with it now and you wont have to worry with it later. Hope this helps you.

Thank you Donna. This is a service that bills you for the physicians fees when you go to the emergency room. The hospital told us that they have no affiliation with MBI so they can't help us. All we can do is keep faxing and calling I guess. We didn't pay by check we did a POS with our credit card over the phone.

If this involves your credit card, the credit card company may also be able to help you prove payment. Call them too. Good luck and hope you get this cleared up quickly. I feel bad for you--you did everything you were supposed to do and still have to deal with this. Unreal.

Thank you Diane. We called them as soon as we got off the phone with MBI and they said they would check the statements and fax a copy to us on Monday morning. I just worry because we are trying to buy our first home and any negative marks we have on our credit will affect our mortgage and may result in us not being able to get one at all. So stressful. GRRR!

Principissa, I totally agree with donna and dianec there is nothing for you to worry about you have everything you need and good advice.

How is your husband and how did they get rid of the kidney stones in the Emergency Room? I am asking because I have know people that had them and that took a while to get rid of them. They all were in BAD pain.

PS. on a side note if they insist you can tell them OK but it's not due till March of 2147 and you will be glad to take care of it by then. LOL

Principissa--You are doing everything right and they won't put anything on your record because you will have it taken care of first thing next week. It is very stressful when someone else screws up and you have to straighten it out--even though you know you already paid very promptly. Take a deep breath and keep the faith. Let us know how it works out.

Hey Girl, dont worry about your Mortgage. Its medical and you can fax them proof its paid. I work with this and you will be ok on these two things. Good Luck on your new home.

Lidman-you are funny!

Principissa- I agree with everyone else, just go straight to the hospital billing department with proof that the bills have been taken care of, and there isn't anything that they can do.

Lidman, you know my husband was going to do that when he called them on Monday morning. Also my husband has a condition where his kidneys are spongey like, and they absorb the salts and calcium instead of getting rid of it so he is prone to kidney stones and usually passes them monthly. They did a procedure where they imploded them because they found 12 stones in his left kidney and 8 in his right.

Thank you everyone else for helping me out. Getting a mortgage is stressful enough without all the extra aggravation. We just don't want any blemishes affecting our rates.
