DHL Complaint - Will never use DHL again!
CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS -- Had a package shipped to me in Cambridge, MA via DHL. Tracking said it was due on a Wednesday. I stayed home from work on that day for delivery. The package never came. Called DHL, was told it had been mis-shipped to New York State due to a scanning error, that it was on its way back to Mass. and that I would have it "tomorrow".
I took a second day off and again, no package came. I called DHL, told a supervisor that tracking showed that the package had arrived back in Mass. at 12:31 am that morning, and asked why I didn't have it 18 hours later. She told me that the package would have stayed on the truck once it came back to Mass. because it was "ground", not priority, and wouldn't have been processed for delivery until after 6 pm the same day. This didn't make sense.
I called again and finally spoke with a man who was able to tell me that the supervisor's information was wrong, that packages do not "sit on the truck until 6pm". and that my package DID in fact come back to Mass. Problem though: it was then sent BACK to N.Y. because of the SAME scanning error. I got the package the following Monday, 6 days after the actual scheduled delivery date, and the contents were broken.
That same week I got a second package, delivered by DHL (from a different store) and the contents of that package were broken TOO! Call it coincidence or bad luck, but these experiences were lousy. One DHL person sounded truly apologetic, but misinformation, robotic apologies from others, scanning errors, delays and broken contents compel me to ask shippers in the future to NOT to use DHL.
