Verizon Complaint - Verizon sucks - if it ain't broke...
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA -- This has bothered me for over two years. their voicemail system is atrocious. In LA, you HAVE to enter 11 numbers to dial the guy that lives upstairs from you. That may not be their fault in itself, but years ago when I got Voice Mail, In order to check your messages with them, you would dial a number and get options for the mailboxes you had. Then they changed the way that happens. when I dial up now, I hit 11 numbers, then the auto voice ASKS if I have a mailbox on this system, and to enter my 10 digit phone number + # if I do. sounds simple?
It isn't. when you press your 10 digit number+# into the system, it asks if you are person 1, or person 2, then you press in your secret code+ #, lets say 4 numbers that you’ll always remember+ #. If I want my mailbox, I press 1#, if I want another, I press 2#. But I ALREADY entered in my personal code didn't I Verizon? What technology prevents you from knowing what phone has just called YOUR voicemail system, using YOUR phone lines? seeing as, if I call Borneo from Los Angeles, you won't charge some OTHER number.
There is a third mailbox option that they don’t even tell you you have, and that's where a lot of your calls go. If you press the first option; 1#, it asks you IF you are YOU, and instead of pressing 1# you press 0#, you find a whole lot of messages from your mom you never got, messages from work, polling places, Visa, what have you. Now I got tired of entering, ohh, let's see, 11 to dial up, 11 more including #, to access your VM. 5 more, including # to enter your code, and 2 more, including POUND, to confirm what your SECRET CODE should have confirmed a minute ago. Then you hear your calls. Of course, if there are no messages for you, and you have to switch mailboxes, you hit star to go to the main menu, and 6 to go to another mailbox, where you have to enter your secret code again and then press 1#. So that's 30 buttons. I've been late to work 4 times just trying to check my frigging messages.
So I called them up, and the nice rep said that if I put star (*)82 before the VM number on speed dial 1-310-314-4805, I would no longer have to enter my phone number when I called up, thereby eliminating 11 button presses replacing them with 2. (Auto+ Speed Dial Number). The problem is, when you do this, you ALWAYS get a busy signal.
Frustrating you enough to go back to dialing up the number old school style. 30 away.
