Avis Rental Car Company Complaint - Scams In European Rentals

Review by angry historian on 2007-10-10
PASO ROBLES, CALIFORNIA -- My husband and I pre-rented a car from Avis for our nine-day European trip. The agent assured him we had full coverage. We asked again in Prague when we picked up the car. "Yes," was the answer, "you have full coverage." The car, by the way was dirty and only half-filled with gas. When we dropped off the car in Vienna, the attendant said we had a dent -- so tiny you could barely see it. We said we hadn't put any dent in the car and he assured us we'd be OK. Today we got our credit card bill -- $469 for repairs! We called Avis and they informed us that by booking early, we automatically waived our collision coverage. Never, ever, did anyone inform us of this fact. I am writing to warn everyone of this ABSOLUTE SCAM. .

DO NOT believe anyone who tells you over the phone that you have full coverage. Also, don't rent from Avis in Europe.

By booing early you waive collision coverage? That doesn't make any sense. See if you can get any resolution from Avis in the States, I'm sure they are the parent company.
