Magic Carpet Care of San Diego Complaint - Buyers Beware of Magic Carpet Care!!

Review by 51744 on 2007-10-11
EAST COUNTY, CALIFORNIA -- I found them on the internet and they were by far the lowest price per square foot. Because our dark, office carpet wasn't that dirty, it was ok to pay the least amount. The owner told me by phone that it would be $.12 per square foot for our 1100 square foot office space. When my boss called to schedule, he was told it would be $.22 per square foot. When I called to discuss the price change, the owners brother was rude, said to find another cleaner and hung up. I called back the next day, spoke to the owner again and begged him to please come out, which they did. Within a week of having the carpets cleaned, stains appeared that resembled the carpet not being dry all the way. My boss asked me to call them back but I thought we should wait a little longer and just make sure that the carpet was fully dry. I called within the next 2 weeks and asked them to come back out. I made an appt for a week away. We had to reschedule due to the parking lot being repaved. They had no problem at that time rescheduling. I was told their next appt was a week away, which we took. Then I got a message that they needed to reschedule. I called and spoke to the owner. He said they would not be coming out and that we should have called back within 3 days per the contract that by the way was never signed.

I hope that buyers will consider this story before using Magic Carpet Care. Our carpet is worse after they touched it.

Let me get this straight... they hung up on you, so you called them back and "begged him to please to come out"?

$.12 per square foot is way below the national average of $.30 - - sounds to me like you got what you paid for. I also agree with Ken - - why would you want to do business with a company that hangs up the phone on you?

I would like a magic carpet ride to a magical place where everyone pays only .12 per foot.
Why did you call them back in the first place ?
Sounds like you were asking for problems ?
Good luck.

Too the others that posted their 3 cents, this was not for my home, it was for work and my boss wanted them to come out. If I upset the carpet cleaners, I needed to fix it since my boss had already planned on them coming out on a certain day. I am not familiar with the carpet cleaning business and $.12 sounded great but it is not cool for you to say, "You got what you paid for". If you go to the store and buy something on sale and it breaks that night, do you really just sit there and say, "Oh well, my money went down the drain, but I got what I paid for". So what you are all basically saying is don't complain about a substandard company that does substandard work because we asked for it? This posting was meant to help others not get burned, not to spark conversation.
