PSY International Complaint - telecommute/work at home - scam or just unacceptible business practice?
On April 25, 2003 I purchased work-at-home startup software from PSY Internatinal. They claim to offer actual employment with their company (as opposed to a get-rich-quick home business offer). The price was $29.90 US, payment made and confirmed via Paypal as suggested by PSY's website to insure quickest delivery. The word is supposed to be data entry, processing retail orders for the company.
Their order confirmation web page stated that most orders would arrive within 5 business days after purchase. It has been over one month and I have recieved no software and no notification from the company of any delay, backorder, or other problem with shipping my order.
I understand that many work-at-home offers are scams, although there are some legitimate ones to be found, and that they prey on unemployed or underemployed people, shut-ins, and stay-at-home moms who can ill afford to throw away any money on a scam. I ordered their software in good faith because the offer sounded legitimate, because it was billed as "employment" rather than a "business opportunity", and because I would not lose my shirt over $29.90.
I have informed the company that I will give them an extremely generous five (5) additional business days, that is until 06/06/2003 to ship my order, including all components and information necessary to start working for their company as a legitimate employee in good standing ASAP, or else a full and immediate refund of $29.90 US. After that time, I will have no choice but to consider the company an illegal scam operation, and to register a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC.
