T-Mobile Informative - New replacement phone no contract, sometimes free
If you have a damaged phone and Tmobile wants you to renew your contract and purchase another one from them you don't have to. Here is what you do:
1. Go to Tmobiles rebate center online. Look for available rebates at the time you want to purchase a phone. Make sure you are looking for pay per use phones rebates, NOT the regular phone rebates.
2. Read the rebate. It often specifies that you need to buy from an authorized Tmobile store (discount stores are not valid, like walmart, etc.).
3. Walk in and buy the pay per use phone specified in the rebate. YOu must activate and use the phone at least once during the 2-4 weeks to get the rebate. I sent mine in immediately and kept the phone activiated during that period of time and got the rebate back.
4. Even if you don't want to deal with the rebate portion, you can get a basic replacement phone through a tmobile store for $29.99. With no contract renewing.
The benefit is you get a new phone with a warranty, and you don't have to wait for the stupid thing to be shipped to you. Just take out the sim card of the old phone and put it in the new one. No contract renewels.
