United Airlines Informative - Horrible Experience
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- My co-worker and I recently flew to Houston for a conference. We had a lay-over in Chicago (O'Hare). We got off our first flight and walked to the gate to wait for our next flight. We sat there for 2 hours when we finally heard them calling first class to board. We did not have first class seats so we waited. Finally, it seemed like we'd been waiting a long time so we got up to see if we could get on the plane. The man at the desk laughed at us and said we couldn't get on the plane because he gave our seats away. He was extremely rude and never once apologized. He sent us over to customer service and when she couldn't help us, she called her supervisor. IT WAS THE SAME GUY!!! He comes over with this smug look on his face and says, "remember me?" When it was obvious we wouldn't be getting on the flight we had booked, they placed us on stand-by for the next flight (which we did make it on). However, when we asked why he didn't call our names if he thought we weren't there, he said he did. This is impossible since we were sitting there at the gate the whole time. He didn't know our names when we asked him what they were. So then, we asked about the free flight vouchers they offer when you give up your seats. He said, "Well, I don't know what you think you heard, but I can't help you. You'll have to call our customer service number."
So, I called and they told me that if I had wanted a free flight voucher, I would've had to get one at the airport and they cannot give them out at any other time. So, pretty much this guy lied to us on a few different occasions and all we've been offered for it so far is a $100 voucher. This is after spending $600 on plane tickets, $130 for an airport shuttle that we missed, and $150 for a taxi that we had to take instead.
I AM NEVER USING THIS AIRLINE AGAIN.
