Colonial Parking, Inc. Complaint - How Colonial Parking Rips off Consumers

Review by RON4URLIFE on 2007-10-18
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- The Parking lot that is operated at 1901 L St. NW WDC 20036. Rips people off by making them believe that they general charge for an hour 7.00 and then if you go over they will charge you a 15 dollar max fee for an entry day after you come later than an hour. I was ticketed 4:16pm and told to go and park my car and to place my sticker in the window. The gentleman told me to be no later 7pm I told. I stated it should take less time than that probably 45mins.

I returned to pick my car up at 5:12 pm and went across the street to get money to pay them and I gave him a twenty dollar bill and he gave me five dollars back. I looked at him as to say and where is the rest of my change. He replied that I had went over by three minutes and had to pay for the full day mind you had I known this I would have park my car and went on to do something else. I think it is deceptive and mean of them to lure people into their parking lots and then up the price on things after they return.

This guy angered me so I wanted to punch him out. I thought thtat I was peaceful man until I met him.

The last sentence was hilarious when you said, "I thought I was peaceful man until I met him." Hilarious indeed.

Sight unseen, I am sure their rates are prominently posted. Further, you admit that you crossed over into the second hour, so at most, you are out a dollar. It isn't worth stressing over. Park somewhere else next time.

When we used the parking at the airport they had signs posted where you receive the ticket saying what rates were being charged. They also had it printed on the back of the ticket. They do the same thing at the casino here in Evansville. It's on the ticket itself, and on the sign in front of the garage. You admit that you went over the time limit so they have the right to charge you for it.

I understand your frustration since the attendant would not let you slide for 3 minutes. It would have been a nice gesture considering how close to the hour you were. That being said, your accusations are self-contradicting. Your statement, "lure people into their parking lots and then up the price on things after they return." is clearly challenged by your previous account of how clearly they disclosed the pricing and terms. The fact of the matter is, you went over by three minutes. While they didn't cut you a break, you were not at all ripped off and received the service for the price exactly as told to you.
