RedBrick Pizza Informative - Heartless Employees - Pizza

Review by burnt up on 2007-10-23
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA -- To whom it may concern:

I would like to take the time to inform you of a very disturbing incident that occurred in one of your franchises today. Today I invited my niece and her fiancé out to lunch while out shopping. We spotted your franchise on our way to my truck. We went in and I place an order for a pizza, then the clerk asked for my name, which I gladly gave her. Once my pizza was done she called my name to come pick it up from the counter. once I had the pizza in my hand before I could take a step away from the counter the cardboard box under the pizza bent in half causing the HOT pizza to fall to the floor and all over the back of my hand. To my surprise neither of the THREE clerks said anything the just looked as I screamed and yelled about how the cheese was still sticking to my hand and arm. my niece ran over to assist me getting the HOT pizza off my body to relieve the burned areas. As your clerks continue to look on. once I calmed down I asked "why did she put the pizza on that thin cardboard"? and she did not reply. My niece asked her for a manager and she said he was not in so I ask for a claim form she stated she didn't know what that was.

So, we had a seat and they prepared us another pizza without notice and called for me to get it again. my niece picked it up that time. As we were eating I noticed one of the clerks come for around the counter and bring a pizza to a couple who were waiting on a pizza, I wondered why they didn't bring us ours as well.Of course the couple was Caucasian and we are African American. This was disturbing to me but I ignored it. Before we left I asked the clerk for a number to reach the corporate office she said with a very nasty attitude that she didn't have one but she called her manager and he said LEAVE YOUR NUMBER. I hesitated for a minute and stated that she did not have the right to have a attitude that I should be the one upset because I was the one burned. She repeated JUST LEAVE YOUR NUMBER.

I asked the young lady her name after I wrote my name and number and she snatched the paper and pen from my hand, but instead of a name she told me to leave the premise Or she would call security I invited her to do that so that I could make a report. I waited outside and as we were discussing the event to older black females informed me that I should not have eaten there because they are racist people. WOW, in this day and age. But I'm not surprised.

I hope this will get resolved as I nurse my BLISTERS on my hands I hope your employees are better trained to handle a accident in the future.

I understand your anger and frustration and those employees should be dealt with, i say fired and dumped from their jobs, but what does the fact you're african-american has to do with what happened to you?

A few things that don't sound right.
1) You said "...I ask for a claim form...".
2) You said "...she told me to leave the premise Or she would call security..."
3) You said "...older black females informed me that I should not have eaten there because they are racist..."
You did not call for medical assistance.
Sounds like something is missing here ?
Good luck.

Yes, you had me too until you said that you proceeded to sit down and eat the second pizza that they prepared for you - after you had been yelling and screaming about hot cheese all over your arm. Burn injuries are very painful and if you were seriously injured, you would have sought medical treatment immediately.

In addition, whoever you sent this letter to is probably not going to take you seriously. The fact that the employees did not respond to the accident and offer assistance is upsetting, however I am not sure it had anything to do with the color of your skin. You are making an assumption here based off the fact that you saw them walk out a pizza to a Caucasian and they did not do the same for you.

The employees at his pizza joint are all Hispanic, so they are incapable of being racist, duh!

Three years ago I spilled hot bacon grease and was burned 2nd and 3rd degree over 97 percent of my hand. Burns hurt bad. I have sympathy there. I do think the employees were acting unprofessionally and should have at least got you in contact with a manager and given you claim forms. You don't say anything about seeking medical attention, I can tell you from experience that when you burn yourself as bad as you're claiming to be burned you need to go to the ER. So that leads me to believe that you're not as bad off as you say.
I can think of one reason why they were avoiding you like the plague, that is because of the way you were acting. You were acting like you owned the place and that your money was the only thing keeping them in business. People like you who claim racism and discrimination make it difficult for real victims of it to speak up because nobody believes them.

Yes, racism exists, even in this day and age. Unfortunately, nothing here points to that being the case other than your mysterious conversation with these older black females.

I concur with everyone else here who says that if you were that badly injured, you would have sought medical attention instead of sitting down to enjoy a replacement pizza served to you by the same supposedly insensitive people.

I also concur with heven17 and every one else this review is NOT HELPFUL!

If people don't stop throwing that race card around all willy-nilly, someone's going to lose an eye...

Pomona Guy, good to see you posting again. Are the Ontario or Arrowhead fires causing you much trouble? Were covered is ash now but things are looking up in O.C.

Super,Ontario fires???

Thats where my Mom lives.

Burnt, while I can feel your pain weren't you somewhat at fault as well for mishandling the "cardboard box that bent in half?" Stay away from this joint along with those apple pies from Micky D's that have molten lava for a filling!

Steve, there were some bad fires at the 15/215 (Devore) split and some of the dairy farms in Ontario went up in flames, they are under control now in that area.

Posted by burnt up on 2007-10-25:
ply a race card damn! did you guys miss the part about them bringing the WHITE couple the pizza to there table!
Posted by jktshff1 on 2007-10-25:
no, you said caucasian.
I'm still trying to figure out how the back of your hand was burnt. I pick up a pizza box with both hands (cardboard bends duhhhh) and my hands are turned up, not down like eating a sandwich.
You 'outa take some responsibility here.

These days, most employees are not allowed to inquire if you're alright, say sorry, or aid in any way because of stupid lawsuits that construed being courteous as taking blame; don't blame the "heartless" employees, blame the idiots that sue over a simple accident.
Did it ever occur to you that they took the pizza to the other table not based on race, but because they didn't want another similar incident?
You must be tired from all that jumping to conclusions.
