First American Complaint - Home Warranty Scam

Review by mjtracy on 2007-10-26
WESTMINSTER, CALIFORNIA -- Moving into my new home I was assured that if anything went wrong, the First American home warranty would cover it. Immediately upon moving in in August, I discovered that the cook top did not work. That was in August 2007. Now it is October 25, 2007, and nothing has been done. This company has stalled, stalled, stalled on doing the needed repairs.

In my opinion, I would NEVER trust this company. Its guarantees are worthless.

I too, bought a new home in 1995 with a 10 year warranty. After 3 years in the home, the floor joists began to sag, which caused doors to stick and not close properly. After the joists started sagging, there wasn't an even corner anywhere in the house, which is two-story. I contacted the warranty provider and explained the problem. They sent an inspector (one of theirs) to look at the structural damage. He wouldn'explain anything to me and acted like a complete jerk, in MY house! I was told they wouldn't cover the damage. Home warranties are nothing but a major rip-off. I'll elect to have the builder of my next new home simply give me the premium and forget any warranty.
