CM Auto Complaint - Dishonest selling tactics and nasty service

Review by conniemei on 2007-10-26
WOODBRIDGE, NEW JERSEY -- C&M Auto in Woodbridge, NJ is both a used car dealership as well as an auto repair shop. Some of the cars that they sell have been in major accidents and they fix them up and sell them at the Kelly Blue book price, BUT they do not tell you anything about the accident. So be careful when you buy a used car from them and make sure to do a careful review of its history. If you decide to buy the car anyway, make sure to negotiate the price down to account for its history. Also, they are very nice when you are a potential buyer but afterwards when you come back for routine services like an oil change or to fix any problems, Paul and his brother - the owners, are very rude, nasty and impatient. They do not care about keeping you as a customer unless they can make a lot of money off you.

Of course we never went back after this and filed a complaint against them with the Division of Consumer Affairs for failing to inform us of the history of the used car that we purchased from them.

Use CarFax on any used car.

I may be wrong, but I'm not sure it's their legal responsibility to inform anyone of the vehicles history, pertaining to accidents anyway. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken please.

Common sense would dictate that the BUYER look into such things themselves anyway.

Killer you are right...It is not the dealer's responsibility to inform the customer of the vehicles history UNLESS it is an R-Title or if the vehicle has frame damage. If it was in an accident, they are not required to do so. You can file all the complaints you want. It is a used car. Buy new if you want a new car.

This is the typical case where the customer did not check over the car or the history and now it is the "big bad dealers" fault for not telling them.
