La Madeline Hotel Complaint - Poor Website Rating
Upon a recent trip to Brussels, I searched the web for a unique hotel. I had decided to leave my comfort zone of an established company, and try a "quaint an cozy" hotel. If I were backpacking thru Europe, and didn't mind a dirty room, with a bad view and a complete eerie feeling, this place would have been perfect. It was rated as a 3 star on 2 different websites, and a 2 on another. Being in the middle of the activity of the city, I decided to book it. This hotel should be rated with maybe a one star, not for the seasoned traveler, and it is neither quaint nor cozy. It is dirty, because the room I had was so small you couldn't get a vacuum in it, there was left over construction residue in the bath. You could hear everyone in other rooms clearly, and you had to hike stairs to reach rooms on the upper floors.
I will give it a compliment, the restaurant for breakfast was very delightful, and the people were nice. The one other major complaint, you could not make a local or a long distant call, because they were not set up to do so with either a credit card or a Euro calling card, which I had purchased to make it easier to call for reservation checks and making my business contact. The hotel was La Madeline at Rue de la Montagne, Brussels, Belgium.
