Midas Complaint - Ever Realize You've Suckered by Midas?
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I won't bore you with the typical venting, just the facts short and sweet. I brought my car into Midas, located at 1717 N Clybourn in Chicago, IL, to have my brake shoes looked at and replaced if needed. I called to see what the cost would be. About $79 per hour, for about an hours' work, since my brake shoes were under warranty from a previous Midas brake job.
The result was getting handily talked into getting a series of other "needed" things done, like drums getting cut ($40), replacing brake fluid ($60), replacing drum hardware ($30), on top of the standard drum brake package ($50). This made a $90 job cost $200 (how could I, usually a reasonable man, get suckered for $100 per brake drum? Dumb dumb dumb!).
When I questioned the manager Ron, after the work was done, that I could have just gotten the shoes replaced! Boy, do I feel cheated and scammed. Congrats Midas, you made another customer feel like a total fool. No wonder so many people hate you and your shops!
On top of all this, now I hear a rub-rub-rub sound when driving, and then a squeak-squeak-squeak when applying the brakes, until the car stops. It sounds like my car telling me how dumb, dumb, dumb I was to trust in Midas. Never again will I go to Midas! Nor should anyone else. It would be fantastic if they were put out of business, I say!
