The Happy Tooth Dentist Office Complaint - Avoid The Happy Tooth offices if you are looking for a dentist in NC
WAKE FOREST, NORTH CAROLINA -- I recently moved to Wake Forest, NC and needed to find a new dentist. I had put it off for awhile since I had been very busy, but I recently lost part of a filling which caused me to seek one out. I have MetLife insurance, so I went to their list of preferred providers and chose one close to my house, which was The Happy Tooth office in Wake Forest NC.
When I called, I asked if I could come in and get the filling replaced and they informed I couldn't do that without first having a new patient exam and cleaning, so I scheduled one. I asked if I could schedule the filling repair at the same time and was told no, but if they had time during the visit they could do it then. So I show up 15 minutes early for my appointment as requested to fill out the paper work and then I wait patiently for them to take me back to the chair. The receptionist was very polite and apologetic because they were late, my appt was for 9:30 and they finally took me back around 9:50.
They immediately took my x-rays and said they would be right back. I sat there until 10:30 at which time the receptionist stopped in and said they should be with me shortly. I told her that I needed to leave because it had been an hour and they hadn't even started the cleaning yet and I had a meeting to get to. She asked me to wait one minute and went into the next room where the hygienist was and told her I was getting ready to leave, I heard her reply "why, it's only been an hour, his appointment was from 9:30 to 10:30, I'll be right there" the hygienist then came in the room and said, "could you wait 5 minutes and I'll be right with you?" I told her no, I couldn't wait due to a meeting I needed to get to, it was now after 10:30 and she hadn't even started the cleaning and I don't have time. She said, "but it will only take 5 minutes" and I asked how a cleaning could only take 5 minutes and she then proceeded to tell me that she was only going to perform the new patient exam and that they would have to reschedule my cleaning appointment because they didn't have a technician there to do it. I asked when were they going to bother to tell me this and she said after she performed her exam on me.
At this point, I told them to forget it, give my x-rays and I'll find a new dentist. They then made me wait another 15 minutes while they made me copies of my x-rays to take with me. While I was waiting, I noticed a sign in the lobby that said "All broken or missed appointments without 24 hrs notice will result in a $25 charge, NO EXCEPTIONS" I asked if I was going to receive $25 since they broke their cleaning appointment with me without 24 hr notice but the receptionist didn't even respond to me. To her credit she may not have heard me because she was extremely busy and she seemed to be the only one there apologetic about the situation. I would advise anyone looking for a dentist around Wake Forest NC to stay away from The Happy Tooth.
