Safety recall on fuel line - Complaint
DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- On 10/20/07 I received a safety recall notice concerning the fuel line on my car.They said it was possibly defective and might need replacement at NO CHARGE. I went to my nearest dealer and was told that this could possibly damage the fuel pump and i would have to pay for that myself. I contacted Cadillac and was told the same thing.BOY what a rip off! i didn't create this problem and they expect me to pay for something i had nothing to do with " COMMON ".
It's a shame when a company like Cadillac could care less about doing the right thing, we should all be aware of these type of companies.

There has to be more to this story...I have never heard of a safety recall where the consumer is charged for the actual recall?????

I don't understand this. It could possibly damage the fuel pump, but did it? I assume you are getting the fuel line fixed via the recall. If the car is getting gas, then the pump is not damaged and why even worry about it. Why fight a battle that doesn't exist, at least yet.

Are you sure it is a “Safety Recall”? If it is, it is free because of “product liability law”. If GM is aware of a potential defect on their cars that post a safety risk, they are liable for lawsuits and fines. It would be cheaper for GM to pay for the parts/labors to rectify the problem.
