XM Satellite Radio Complaint - Hard to Cancel Subscription - Unlawful Practices
I received 2 renewal invoices for accounts I had previously had, but closed promptly when I sold my car and a standalone unit. I specifically took note of the date of the phone call, as I always do when cancelling subscriptions. I sent a new letter stating this and again requested my accounts be closed. I ended up getting a phone call from XM stating I had to call them to cancel--a letter does not suffice. Interesting! Sure enough when called and found my account was still opened and showed a balance owed. While speaking with the representative, he acknowledged that there were notes in the account that I had called nearly a year earlier on the date in my notes, but there were nothing on the account that I requested it be closed.
I insisted this was a clerical error on their part, but he would not concede. All of my dealings with their customer service leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I feel they are using unfair and unlawful business practices.
