Dalton Automotive Complaint - Awful - Transmission rebuild

Review by gakreed on 2007-11-08
CLEVELAND, GEORGIA -- I took my pick-up to Dalton Automotive near Cleveland, GA a long while ago. They gave me an estimate of $1200 and said it would be ready in a few days. Over a week later they called and said they broke some of the bolts so the cost would be a little more. What could I say? Now I know I should have said "no, put it back like it was and I'll come get it" but I didn't. When I finally got it back I drove it for a day then it dumped all the transmission fluid. They said they'd make good on it and kept it for another week and a half or so. It still didn't shift right so since I had another pick-up I quit driving it so much.

I doubt I have driven it ten thousand miles since the transmission was rebuilt and it is already out again. I'll NEVER let Dalton Automotive do any work on anything of mine again and I'll make sure my family and friends know of the experience I had with their work.

Two things bother me about this post. First, $1200.00 to rebuild a tranny and two, a shop that breaks off bolts and charges the customer. Just my opinion

Bothered me as well :( but I didn't know any better at the time. Ended up costing me nearly 2,000 to get my pick-up back.
