Olive Garden Informative - Poor experiences

Review by j.n. on 2007-11-11
Unfortunately, no matter what your favorite restaurant is the more you frequent it you are bound to have a bad experience or two. I have been a server for most of my life, and understand the business. I consider myself a good server, attentive, sincere, and genuinely into making my guests happy and satisfied. I have found that not all servers are as passionate about there job as I am, but that fact remains about all jobs. I find people all the time that hate me from the start due to a bad experience with a past server and I suffer for most of the time I spend with them until the end when they realize I really do care!

Give everyone that serves you a fair chance to show there true colors before casting dispersions. It is a tough job, and not meant for just anyone. Realize that your experience can go from good to bad in a second depending on your attitude toward the person trying to help you. I have had many people treat me like crap, for many different reasons, yet I try to remain positive by reasoning. Unfortunately not everyone that serves you can do that. But thats life!

I am not college educated, but have learned a lot about life and how hurtful we can be to one another, without thought just by waiting tables and decided a long time ago not to take other peoples unhappiness and rude behavior to heart, although even though I realize all of this, my feelings still get hurt once in awhile because I am still at the end of the day human with feelings just like you!

j.n. this review says a lot about people in general and is so true. I will take this to heart and remember it when I go to a restaurant. Thank you very much for your thoughts and great review. (VH)

PS. Please forgive JayD for being such an ignorant person he really doesn't have a life to speak off and seems to hate everybody.

jn..sounds like you got too much class to be waiting tables.
but some people really enjoy the job, just like ditch diggers, salesmen, truck drivers etc there's something out there for everyone.

When ever we go out to dinner with or without the kids no matter what kind of experience we've had in the past we do not let that ruin the experience we are having that evening. It's not the new servers fault that our food was cold or took way longer than it should have to get out to our table. I have better things in my life to stress over than poor service at a restaurant.

good post j.n. I was a waitress for several years right out of high school and it is one of the hardest jobs out there. Don't pay attention to JayD, he never has anything positive to say.

I work at Olive Garden lol people can be nasty when they are hungry. when i see grumpy people i try to turn their sad day around. No matter how cold a person may be kind gestures make and impact. you set the standard take the negative vibes in and turn the guests day into something positive, they do come around.

Iam a college student and a server. And i really used to like people untill i became a server and saw how rude people really can be to a total stranger thats just trying to do their job. Like those women that every server gets. You go up to their table with a big smile and introduce yourself to them and they dont even bother to look up at you. Everytime you go up to their table to see how things are going they either keep talking to eachother and dont even acknowledge you or they demand refills or napkins or whatever. You get them whatever they need and when they leave you tell them to have a nice day and they just walk passed you, then you look at the table and ofcourse they stiffed you...
