Alamo Complaint - Upgrades - Car rental
L A, CALIFORNIA -- I recently booked online a midsize SUV to collect at LAX The quoted price included sales tax & concession recoup fee. If I had booked a standard size suv the extra cost would be $27 for the 2 weeks. At LA I was offered an upgrade which I accepted. At the time no mention was made regarding cost. I foolishly assumed that it would be around $27 Big mistake! Alamo obviously make their money by conning, and ripping customers off. I was actually charged $420 to upgrade, plus charged again for sales tax and concession recoup (whatever that may be) Alamo`s response was that I signed to accept these charges. My main concern however is the way that Alamo operate this con.All costs are printed on the top half of the agreement, and all the parts that the customer signs on the bottom half. The agreement is then presented to customer to sign in 5 or 6 places. The agent points out where you need to sign, but by doing this it makes it difficult for the customer to see exactly what charges are being signed for. The agreement is then folded and placed in a wallet before being passed to the customer. If Alamo (and possibly other rental companies) did care about customer care and service, why do they not print the cost alongside the signature space on the bottom half of the agreement!
In conclusion, Alamo must know that nobody in their right mind (apart from me) would agree to pay $420 for something they could previously nave got for $27
