Ashley Furniture Informative - Information You Should Know
I must say I am extremely concerned about all the negative posts in this review section. It is true that an unsatisfied customer will tell 100 people and a satisfied customer will only tell 10.
In addition this is magnified with the use of the world-wide web. As a result, when people are angry because of a bad experience they tend to label a company as being the worst thing since Hitler!
I have read through all the reviews and I am shocked at the lack of professionalism some homestores have displayed. However, it should be remembered or pointed out that every Ashley homestore is independently owned. This means that each store has its own ethics and can choose to respect their customers and value them, or display poor customer service and lack ethics. For the few stores that obviously have issues, they will not be in business very long. Smart business owners realize that their success depends on satisfied customers and repeat business. They value their customers. ( many Ashley stores do)
I want to make it perfectly clear to the lady that was upset that she had to assemble her furniture when she picked it up, that this is always the case when furniture is picked up from furniture stores. All furniture, casegoods, arrives in boxes even the highest end furniture. When a person selects to have their furniture delivered, part of the delivery service includes the assembling of furniture for the customer. ( Wal-mart is not the only place one should expect to purchase furniture from that must be assembled). When picking up furniture from ANY furniture store, always have the warehouse staff open the boxes and let you inspect the merchandise for damage before you take it home.
From what I have seen posted here, most of the complaints could and should have been avoided by the store management and sales associates doing their job, as they should. Every customer should be informed that there would be a restocking fee if his or her furniture is cancelled for any reason. There should never be any points hidden from customers. While a customer may not like what is being revealed, they will have the information to make an informed decision, thus the complaints will be greatly reduced.
Realize that when a sales associate gives their customer a delivery date, this is ONLY, and ESTIMATED, date. Many sales associates fight the urge to retain the sale by not emphasizing this to their customer. Again, the customer deserves to know this is only and estimated date. It matters not where you purchase your furniture, even if you purchase it from the largest furniture store in the world, Furniture Land South, there are delays, which are unavoidable. It all depends on shipping and customs, etc. All Ashley furniture sales associates are to make it clear to their customers that the estimated delivery date is just that.
Ashley homestores are a factory direct retailer. There is no middleman. This is one reason that the prices on the furniture are very competitive. The upholstery furniture is assembled in Mississippi, and the fabric is cut and sewn in china. This cuts cost which and saves the consumer money. Some of the casegoods are manufactured in China, and some in Acadia WI. Ashley furniture is good quality furniture for mid-end furniture. Realize that you are not purchasing high-end furniture. And you are not purchasing JUNK! High-end furniture will cost you three times as much. An example would be an end table for $3,000 as seen at Furniture land south.
I don’t like the fact that furniture is not American made today and I have worked in several factories that have been closed and sent overseas. It is not only Ashley furniture that uses other countries to help assemble their product. The case is that even Stanley furniture and Basset furniture are not entirely made in the United States. Again, if one asks a salesperson where the furniture is made it is the duty of the associate to tell the truth to their customers.
I have sold furniture for quite sometime now and I hope that I have given everyone a bit of useful information. There is NO excuse for poor management, customer service, poor or shady sales people. I just ask you all to PLEASE, stop grouping every Ashley store in the same category, as this is unfair and simply not the case.
To everyone that has had these horrible experiences, I am sympathetic and I wish you had not gone through it. Believe me there are some good informative associates, and very good and dedicated Ashley homestore owners.
