Transworld Systems Complaint - Harassing Collectors - Collection Agency

Collection Agency - Complaint
Review by bchristian on 2007-11-16
I have received many calls from the company, Transword Systems, to begin with they will not call and show the number that they call from, they are a private name and number, which is a start to why I will not answer calls. Second, the rude, hateful messages that were left on my machine were completely uncalled for.
I called back in to deal with the matter and relay to them that payments were being made, and was informed that the balance they had was not the same as mine, that no payments had been received and that they were taking all my information on the matter.

The person was rude, basically called me a liar and would not accept the terms that I stated as payment.

I will not continue to be harassed by them and will report them to the Better Business Bureau. This type of behavior from your company needs to come to a stop.

Some debt collectors are pretty rude. We have been having a problem with a debt collector for a person we have no idea who she is. We have had this number since 2001. Lately we have been getting these phone messages saying this message is for (persons name), if this is not (persons name) hang up immediately as you are not authorized to listen to this message. Hello, you are calling my home and leaving a message on my machine. Don't tell me I can't listen to my messages. I don't bother to call these places back since I at one point did and have figured out that these debts are being sold from one idiot to another and the last idiot did not bother to change the info when I gave it to them.

It sounds like you owe this debt. Ask there where you send proof you are making payments and send them copies of the canceled checks. And it is not up to you to make the conditions of payment - your entire debt is due immediately unless they agree to payments.

I think you have every right to be upset. You admit you owe this debt, you are making every effort to pay it off, and now they don't believe that your payments are being made. Where are you sending the payments to? Are you sending them to the original debtor or the collection agency? Can you get copies of canceled checks or statements that show that the payments were made and cleared through your account? I would call around and see what you can do to clear this up before it starts to get worse.

Who are you making your payments to? If it is the original creditor then that may be your problem. Once an account is turned over to a collection agency then they own it and all payments need to be made to them.

Suusan you bring up a valid point. If the original creditor is still allowing them to make payments to them and not the collection agency that could be where the problem is. They should not be accepting payment at all. And if they are they need to report that to the collection agency and let them know to properly credit this person's account.

As a former account representative (and a non too happy one at that), bchristian's complaint is hard to believe. Maybe he/she is from a competitor (collections is a "cut throat" business).

From an operational standpoint, I know exactly how TSI works. First, they do not make phone calls. All they do is send out carefully worded letters that dun the debtor to pay up. These letters are increasingly strongly worded, but are carefully prepared to avoid being legally threatening. This is done through a mail facility in Long Island, NY.

TSI never makes phone calls. If the lack of payment gets so late, then these are handed off to OSI (a partner firm of TSI) or are dropped altoghether (depending upon the client's preferences).

While I may have a gripe or three about TSI from an employee standpoint, I know exactly how they work. Perhaps bchristian is confused specifically who is calling him or her re. the debt. Let's be fair!

Everyone is protected under the FDCPA law. It is against the law for collectors to be harrassing. But, many people do not know about the FDCPA laws. I suggest looking it up online to see what your rights as a consumer are.
