Best Buy Complaint - Will not honor warranty - Geek Squad WORTHLESS
AVON, INDIANA -- Machine was taken in for warranty repair in July 2007 for intermittent sound card problems. As these are intermittent, your company could not duplicate the problem. When I got the machine back, there were new deep scratches in the top of the display case. As these were caused while Best Buy had custody of the machine, I was promised that I could bring it back and they would replace the lid, as they recognized it was their fault.
I returned to have the lid replaced, and have the system board replaced for the same sound problem. I am a DJ and use this machine for my job. Sound is very important.
Again, they did absolutely nothing. They did not even replace the lid that they scratched, saying that it did not affect the operation of the computer.
They also said that I needed to run the restore disks, and that would fix the sound problem.
On top of the fact that I am a DJ, I am also a Lead Desktop Technician with nearly 15 years of IT experience. I know that replacing the operating system is NOT going to fix the problem of the sound dropping out intermittently. Especially considering I have Ghosted the machine and reinstalled Windows XP home, then installed XP Professional, and it still didn't work!
Geek Squad technicians may not be able to recreate the problem, but when I am in the middle of a wedding and it drops out, I tend to lose future business. I paid $300 for an extended warranty. Best Buy has done absolutely NOTHING to honor that warranty, AND returned the laptop to me with deep scratched in the lid and said, "scratches on lid can not be helped and does not affect functionality.
I ship laptops, desktops, and workstations all of the time. They don't show up scratched.
I will never give Best Buy my business again. Not when there are a lot of competitors out there that want my business, and will back up their products.
