The Price Is Right!!! CBS Daytime Show. Informative - A No Win Situation?

Review by 15910 on 2007-11-21
USA -- This past Monday and Tuesday I stayed home nursing a bad cold. I know I sound like a "wus" but even my boss said to stay at home rather than pass on this cold to people at work.

While being bedridden I watched my share of TV and must say that daytime TV is pretty boring.

Well anyway, I decided to see how ol' Drew Carey, was doing on "TPIR". In my eyes not too good. I know that the guy is replacing a legend but he was tripping over his words, once called some Spaghetti Sauce "chunky sauce" then later called it TOMATO SAUCE on the price game. His on air comments are pretty drab and who is this guy's tailor? Some "two suits for a hundred bucks" place? Okay, I will admit that I am not a big Drew fan but he is not a good fit for that show that has such a long history and loyal viewers.

The guy is jumping up and down with ALL of the winning contestants and the hugs/makeout sessions get old very fast! Oh well this is just my humble opinion for what it is worth so best wishes to all here at M3C on Thanksgiving.

I wiil continue to "monitor" the show.....

For daytime TV watching, try the People's Court, or, Judge Alex. They can be pretty entertaining.

I work from home, mind you, but, I don't like my house to sound like a tomb while here.

Sorry to here you've been sick, Zzrokk! I certainly hope you feel better soon, and wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I don't think you're their target demo, good friend.

Good review. It's nice to have warning before wasting any time viewing that Drew Carey will in fact, be jumping up and down.

Pirate, what are you implying? Please explain to us why a jetsetter like you plays lottery tickets?
Slim, yesterday Drew and some guy were jumping together and it nearly caused me to change the channel.
I appreciate the replies, Btw.

Daytime TV tends to skew towards a female audience - anybody who knows anything about broadcast or marketing would know that.
Posted by Slimjim on 2007-11-21:
So why are you answering? ZZ, I'm guessing all that jumping by Drew nearly caused them to change the stage.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2007-11-21:
NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo NOT JUDGE ALEX! I can't turn the channel quick enough when his face comes on.

ZZ....I wondered how Droopy Drawers Drew was doing. I never understood the choice made to put him as a game show host. The game show he had before ... I don't even think is on anymore...even forgot the name, but it came on at the time they announced Drew taking over The Price. I didn't find any humor in him or his show, Who's Line Is It Anyway...that was waayyyyyyyy too dumb...I do love Wayne Brady, but still couldn't watch that show.

Because I happen do know, that's why slim. BTW, didn't you claim that one of your occupations was in marketing? Bet that's going well.

I agree. Good post and info! I like CNN to run while I'm working.

My hours and daytime TV don't mix so I'm not up on a lot of this, but I did notice recently that Al from Home Improvement isn't MCing Family Feud anymore. It's Peterman from Seinfeld. What better gig did Al possibly get?

ZZ...the Game Show Network is fun to watch...I love watching the old Newlywed Game and Let's Make A Deal. It's funny to watch Let's Make A Deal because I'm guess at today's prices....instead of the prices from 40 years ago. A brand new 1966 Convertible...$3,500.00! ! ! Your very own Avocado Green Side By Side Refrigerator/ Freezer...A brand new 19 COLOR STERIO Zenith console...with dials and knobs and everything!

..........And Don't forget....His And Her's Donkeys!

I hear you, DB. Judge Alex is awful to me. I like Judy, Judge Mathis and Divorce Court. I did catch up on "The Young And The Restless" as well. Only because the GF was watching of course. Victor, is still cool, Nicky is getting old and they need to bring Ashley back from "The Bold And The Beautiful" or wherever she went!
Posted by Slimjim on 2007-11-21:
The funny thing is DB, that frig and 19" YV combo would probably cost LESS right now, while doing ten times as much.

They replaced Al? Why would they do that? For the love of Monte Hall and Bob Ewbanks, what is going on!!!!
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-11-21:
Ashley Furniture is still the choice on TPIR.
One of the cheesiest shows was "Sale Of The Century" just awful. The original "Hollywood Squares" was classic!

What is wrong, here? Judge Alex ROCKS! Maybe not as much as Judge Marilyn Milian, but, still, that's some entertaining daytime TV. My DH favors Judge Joe Brown, but, I'd pick Judge Mathis any day, over him.

Comedy Central used to show Scrubs(awesome show in it's early days) everyday at 11, but, it appears that they stopped that.

I have one of my daughters Spongebob band-aids on my thumb.

She is a Spongebob junkie

My Daughters got me watching him about 5 years ago. Now they are "too old" to watch it!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2007-11-21:
I LOVE Foghorn Leghorn...All those WB Classic cartoons were the best...and Hanna BarBara or whatever it is...these cartoons now have no class like the oldies...Spongbob, Dora, Rugrats no class at all...give me the Beep Beep Roadrunner and Tom and Jerry ANYDAY!

Yosemite Sam!

I like watching Joe Brown and Mathis...but for the life of me, I can't really tell them apart. They both get that high pitched voice going when they get excited. I think Marilyn Milian is the best of the judges...she's fair and she doesn't get fooled...Judge Judy I like to watch but she puts on a big act for the camera and needs a slap across her mouth every now and then...and besides that, her husband looks like a bird.

Spongebob is the way to go for day time stuff CNN sucks after the first 15 minutes. But you can deoened on the History channel and if you miss it in the morning it will be on again after 12.

Now drink 4 beers and call emt_c in the morning.

I'm a stay at home mom now, and I can't stand daytime TV. I just turn off the TV and turn on the radio. If I do turn on the TV it is for cartoons for my son, or the court shows.

Ever see a handicapped person on the price is right? don't think so. let's all get together and turn them in to the Americans with disabilities act website.now here is a good question does this apply to Canadians or illegal mexicans? enough said? now let's get those college groups together and hog the show.

The only ones happy to have Drew instead of Bob are the pets who will no longer fear being spayed or neutered by the advice of Bobby Boy.

zork - Dang I missed this one when it was fresh but as always my friend a very enjoyable and 'Helpful' missive.

I would sooner watch 35 more years of reruns with Bob than one more day of Drew Carey - he just sucks at this - I liked him on his show but this is not his forte. Maybe they should have tried some other hosts until they found one that had the right personality for this show. George Hamilton maybe??
