The Hot Air Balloon Co. Complaint - Ripped Off - Hot Air Balloon Ride
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- Back in May of 2007 I purchased a a private hot air balloon ride for my wife as a birthday present which we had booked for September 1st. The company, called "The Hot Air Balloon Company" out of Phoenix, Arizona sent me a gift certificate confirming our private ride for 2 and which I paid $575.00 for. When we flew out to Phoenix to enjoy a romantic weekend together and go on this much anticipated ride, things happened. When we got to the airport, the crew was waiting for us and loaded us into a van to find a starting point. We were confused as there were 10 other customers in the 2 vans also. We thought maybe there were 2 balloons but of course not, only one. We went on the ride with the 10 other customers and enjoyed the ride.
When the ride was over and I had to give my certificate over to the captain, I pointed out that I didn't get what I paid for and he looked at the certificate and agreed but I would have to take it up with the office. I did do that when I returned and the woman who I talked with(her name was Janine) told me I was entitled to a $255.00 refund for the price of $160.00 per person for shared rides and I paid for a private ride.
She was rather pleasant but she said she had no authority to refund without the owners permission and he was currently out of town. I called back in a week and her attitude had totally changed from pleasant to abrupt and rather rude, as she told me that he's still out of town. My wife called her also another week later and she mentioned that she was very rude and unwilling to do anything except comment that he's not around. It is now December and they still haven't come clean or will return our calls. Buyers beware of this company.
