Budget Rent-A-Car Informative - Budget Price hikes by the minuite
PORTLAND, OREGON -- I missed my flight (my stupid) I was flying to Sacramento and had a Budget rental car reserved to drive to Napa. The next flight was 7 hours later so Alaska suggested I fly into Oakland (great job Alaska) and I could fly out in a few hours. I called Budget to make sure I could change my reservation and they said yes but quoted me a higher rate jumping 176.00 to 333.33 (yes, my fault, by-the-way I have a wife to tell me these things). I told the Budget reservation desk that I’d call them right back to change my res. as soon as I firmed up the flight change.
Approximately one hour later I called to firm up the car reservation with Budget and was quoted a new higher price at 347.39 . I told the customer service person what I had done and the price I had just an hour ago and she said that she could not do anything about that and the price was the price. I confirmed my reservation change and got on the free wireless at PDX, shopped and booked a car at Oakland with Avis for 60 bucks less.
I called and cancelled my reservations with Budget will only use Budget rental cars if there is no other options. I rent 20 to 26 cars a year so they can figure out how much trying to jack me an additional 14.06 cents cost them.
