British Air Complaint - British Air, BBB and NYCPB ignore my request

Review by jitterbug on 2007-11-28
My wife and I had to cancel a trip to England in June 2007 due to her emergency surgery. Even though the tickets (booking reference 3NAVRB)were non-refundable, we have received vouchers for other similar tickets when cancelled for medical emergency in the past. I have made 4 requests to different BA offices (including Customer Relations and Ticket Refunds), and have received no response.I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau and the New York Consumer Protection Board, with details, and have heard nothing from them either!

$1600 (tickets price)is hardly worth a law suit, but this seems more like what you'd find in a 3rd world country!

Did you book direct or through a 3rd party? Did you purchase travel insurance? (And if you say no because you didn't think you'd "need it" I'm going to scream.)

The tickets were NON REFUNDABLE meaning just that- and I'm sorry to hear of your wife's surgery- but if they break the rules for you, they have to do it for everyone else.

Good luck. (NH)

You said it all in this statement, "3rd world country" get used to it because we are well on the way!

What part of "non refundable" did you not understand??? Apparently the BBB and New York Consumer protection can understand this.

Consider yourself lucky that they refunded your tickets in the past. If you have this much trouble taking trips when scheduled, you might consider travel insurance in the future.
