Comcast Corporation Complaint - Bad Software/Firmware
LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON -- I'm really frustrated with Comcast's PVR. I have two HD PVR's for my HD cable service. I have had them both from when they first offered them. They both worked pretty well with the original software/firmware on them. Then Comcast downloaded a new menuing system to all the HD boxes (excluding PVR's) back a while. I inquired to Comcast as to why I had two different menu systems on my boxes (two HD boxes and two HD PVR's). They gave me some lame answer that sounded bogus. I know now it was because they knew they had serious problems with the new system on the HD PVR's. But, they decided to force the software on us anyway. Now, both my DVR's are pieces of crap. I have called and complained about them several times and they just blow you off. It is like they have committed to whoever wrote the software for them and they can't get them to fix it.
The DVR's have a mind of their own...you press a command and there is no response from the box. You press a few more commands because you don't know if the box is getting the commands or not. Then, all of a sudden, the box takes off and starts running through the commands you hit a minute or two ago. You have no idea where your DVR is going to take you. If there is an important moment in a show or program and you want to back up to hear or see it again, you hit rewind and nothing will happen, you hit it a couple more times...nothing happens...you hit a couple other buttons to see if it is responding at all...you give up. In a minute or two after you have given up, the DVR starts processing the commands in rapid succession. You have no control or idea where the thing is going to end up...or when. Like I said, Comcast knows very good and well this problem exists with their equipment, but refuse to fix it or deal with it.
I pleaded with them to download the old software to my DVR's and let me use the old stuff, but they refused. The only thing they will say is "We're working on it"...that is their pat answer. This has been going on for months now. Comcast can have no valid excuse why they have not fixed this yet.
