Dish Network Informative - DISH TV - Avoid at all Costs
GUILFORD, CONNECTICUT -- It would be impossible for me to adequately express how truly terrible a company DISH Network is.
My nightmare began when they first installed the system and they sent a technician who had absolutely no idea what the heck he was doing.
He spent over 5 hours drilling holes and threading wires throughout my entire house and when he was done we couldn't even get static on our TV screens. By that time, it was obvious that this fella couldn't install a lightbulb much less a satellite system. We politely asked the technician to leave so we could get someone else in to clean up his mess.
The fella got extremely upset, said he might lose his job, and then proceeded to threaten me and my family. Only DISH Network could introduce themselves to new customers in such a fashion.
Suffice it to say, it took three more attempts to finally install the system and it has worked haphazardly ever since.
Two weeks ago I bought a HDTV and foolishly called DISH Network to upgrade my service. I spent an hour and a half on the phone tree before I got a human being to take my information.
They told me that they could only upgrade my DISH TV to HDTV if I made an EIGHTEEN MONTH COMMITMENT. After much argument, they finally agreed to drop the 18 month commitment.
I was given an installation appointment for a Sunday afternoon between 12 noon and 5 p.m. They called me the night before to confirm the appointment. On the appointed Sunday, I waited for 4 hours and 50 minutes and finally received a phone call from DISH that they weren't going to show up. No reason was given and no apologies were offered.
When I asked for a specific date and time when they would come back, I was told it was company policy for me to go all the way back to the end of line and they couldn't give me another specific time when they would upgrade the system.
Keep in mind that DISH TV has already billed my credit card for $150 to cover the costs of an installation that has never been performed.
All my calls to DISH Network customer service were "put on hold" nightmares. Not one person would take ownership for the problem and they actually said that it's company policy to let a customer sit for 5 hours and if the installers don't show up - that's tough luck for the customer.
Preserve your sanity. Stay far far away from DISH TV. I'd use rabbit ears before using their service again. To close, DISH Network is without question the worst company I've ever done business with in my entire life. And I mean it.
