Best Buy Online Informative - Best Buy: Something you should know before ordering online
Ordered a product to pick up at a local store this morning. The web site said "in-stock". Placed the order and got an email back 30 minutes later saying it wasn't available.
Okay, so I found another product and ordered that to pick up. Again, the site said "in-stock". Five minutes later, not available at the store.
Checked my bank and found they'd charged me for both products. I called their 800 number and was told it would take at least 15 days to get a refund.
How could this be? The product didn't exist, I didn't get a product, and Best Buy gets to keep my money for two weeks?
(I've done the online pick up thing at least a dozen times without an issue so the idea a product was out of stock, the first time, I figured as because it's Christmas, etc.)
So I went to the store. What should I find but the very first product I'd ordered and paid for. There it was sitting on the shelf in plain view.
Went to customer service and was told there was nothing they could do, I'd have to pay yet a third time.
Moral of the story: Don't use Best Buy Online Store Pickup unless you're willing to hand Best Buy a two week loan. It's a policy they don't make clear to you and it's one that should be changed.
