Miller Toyota of Culver City Informative - Not so Honest - Toyota break repair

Review by PatrickF on 2007-12-05
90232, CALIFORNIA -- I took my car into Miller Toyota in Culver City because of some brake problems I was having. They quoted me for new brakes and rotors in the front and new brakes and an axle seal in the rear. The total estimate for the job was $1720.00. I said not to do the work.

The next morning I took the car to Marina Del Rey Toyota. I just dropped the car off and did not tell them anything about my visit to Miller Toyota. Marina Del Rey Toyota quoted me $598.00 for the same job. They said my rotors where fine and some other part did not need to be changed.

I saved almost $1200 by not taking my car to Miller Toyota. Be careful if you are taking your car there for repairs!!! BTW check out the Better Business Bureau rating on them, they have an "F". I've never seen a company lower than "B-". This can't be good. BBB rating link below.

I can't imagine even considering a dealer to do maintenance if you don't have to for warranty reasons.

I rated this very helpful. It is easy to get in the habit of using the dealer ("Gee, they must be the best.") But parts and labor are usually cheaper and the work as dependable at independent mechanics. Of course, shop around if you can and ask friends if they are happy with a specific mechanic.
