RealNetworks,Inc Complaint - Real Arcade free trial Beware!!
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- I have been a user of Real Arcade for many years without too many problems. I had decided to try the free trial for 30 days because I had lost a game that I had bought on my laptop. I noted the day that I joined and called 10 days later to cancel the membership(even though I had 30 days). I received a confirmation email of my cancellation and thought everything was fine. Well, 1 month after I joined there's a charge on my debit card for real arcade gamepass. Dumb of me to use my debit card, but I had the saved all my emails to prove I had cancelled, so I thought no problem. I call CSR and could not understand a word they were saying, asked to talk to supervisor(which I did) and was told , no problem, we'll refund your payment. That was over a week ago and still no refund. In the meantime my bank had changed hands, all accounts were the same, but the debit cards were different. I refused to give my new debit card# in fear of them charging again. My bank said that the charges could be reversed by RealNetworks,Inc without needing to supply a new debit card. All my info is still the same. CSR stated they suspected fraud and would send me a refund by mail in 4-6 weeks(maybe). I was put on hold for 20 minutes of the 25 minutes and no real resolution. They wanted no proof of my emails, said they had everything and would submit it for a refund.
Any suggestions of what I can do to prevent this in the future? Can I report them, or is this within their rights.
