DirecTV Inc Complaint - Directv charges after cancellation
DIXON, CALIFORNIA -- After having to call my credit card company 4 months in a row to have the Direc TV charges reversed, I finally had to cancel the card.
A couple of years ago I purchased 2 brand new HD receivers from Circuit City. Within a few months one of them quit working so I called DirecTV and was told that it will be "covered", whatever that means, but because it is an HD box they have to send a technician out to check it. About a week later the technician agrees that the box is defective and replaces it and takes the old one.
Fast forward to July when I moved to an area that has access to cable and the fun started. I spent over 4 hours on the phone to try to cancel the service between idiots 1 through 10 and on hold until I got a recorded message that stated that everyone in that department was busy and to try again later, then dial tone.
They claim that the new receiver that the tech installed is a leased unit and by accepting it I started a new 2 year commitment, I replied for them to send or fax me a copy of whatever they have to document that and was told they do not keep delivery receipts. After many calls and cancelled charges they agreed to drop the 2 year commitment but still were insisting on the return of their rental box or $200. One of the people I spoke with made the mistake of admitting that my old box that I owned would be repaired and leased to someone else.
I sent a letter a few weeks ago to DirecTV claims processing which I am sure was ignored and demanded either the return of the box that their technician stole from me, or stop billing me.
Got a call from a collection agency today, so it looks like small claims court.
