Magellan 700 GPS Informative - Stopped working as I was leaving for a trip

Review by Ceadmilefailte on 2007-12-13
RICHFIELD, WISCONSIN -- I purchased a Magellan 700 GPS and expected it to last longer than 13 months, especially since I seldom used it. I was leaving for a trip at 4AM and the connection kept going on and off.

I had to run to a Wal-Mart and purchase a Garmin GPS. The Garmin is far superior to the Magellan, both for addresses and remote locations. The Garmin is also easier to read while driving as it will brighten or dim according to light conditions.

I would never purchase another Magellan.

I've been seeing quite few posts on here lately about Magellan products, I'm glad I went with a Garmin. I just received my Garmin Nuvi 260 the other day and so far I love it! The maps seem very accurate and it is quick to find a signal, not to mention a great point of interest database. Anyone looking for a GPS, I would highly recommend a Garmin!

I have had a Garmin Street Pilot III for 4 years. It's been a good unit.

MRM- I ended up getting it from Amazon, they had a great price on the model I wanted and free shipping.

I love my Magellan. I've had a few minor issues with it going blank- it just needs to be reset- there is a button on the side for you to do that on your own. Either that or it needed to be charged.

I love my Magellan and have found it to be more accurate than my mothers Garmin GPS actually. I can even subscribe and get traffic reports directly on my Magellan. I love it.
