Alamo Complaint - Alamo refused to give me my Priceline prepaid car
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I prepaid through Priceline for a rental car from Alamo. I arrived at the airport at 6am to pick it up and when they saw I had only a debit card, they refused to give me the car I had paid $70 for the prior month. The reason they gave was because "Company Policy" reads a debit card cannot be used since a debit charge can be disputed. I told them that a credit charge can just as easily disputed. Regardless, I already paid through Priceline. I tried to reason with them letting them know I am a local, I am going to see my family, and would bring the car back in 18 hrs. They said that it is because I am a local that they are refusing to complete their end of the transaction. They said that if I could show I had an outbound flight after I returned the rental, then they would rent to me. I was shocked at the absurdity I was hearing. I spoke with two managers and they still stuck to the "Company Policy." Because of their "Company Policy" they have permanently lost me and my family as a customer.
I immediately went to Hertz and told them the story. They promptly matched the price and I was quickly on my way. Hertz now has a customer for life.
